Position: Training and Development Officer

Location: Field Based

Reporting to: Managing Director

Job Purpose:

• To source, develop and deliver appropriate courses to maintain a programme of legislative, mandatory and developmental courses for employees within the Group.
• To provide up-to-date information to the Group about changes in practice and legislation relating to learning and development in the Care Sector.
• Develop and deliver training courses to external customers as and when required.

Key Responsibilities:

To ensure that branches are compliant to the standards required of regulatory authorities and contracting bodies.

To conduct a comprehensive induction programme for all new or acquired care staff.

To provide regular update training in for mandatory courses such as health & safety, prevention of vulnerable adults, food hygiene and manual handling.

To respond to the training needs of branches in order to provide the care team with the appropriate knowledge to care for service users.

To keep records of attendance and pass relevant information to the central training team.

To collate evaluation of training / learning and make appropriate changes as a result of feedback.

To constantly evaluate and make recommendations to the master records of training materials.

To work as part of the training team and provide cover for colleagues where necessary.

Key Tasks:

• To maintain records of attendance.
• To liaise with branches to ascertain training, learning and developmental needs.
• To maintain records of training equipment, venues and resources.
• To ensure that branches and individuals are informed of what training is available.
• Liaise with candidates to ensure maximum attendance on courses.
• Contribute to compiling training material and develop printed training material for internal training.
• Liaise with branches / candidates to obtain feedback on training courses.
• To research different types of training and changes in legislation which affect training the training portfolio.
• To work with the Managing Director and Training Team to provide a cohesive learning and development culture within the company.
• To work on ad hoc projects as directed by the Managing Director.
• To undertake any other tasks as required by the company.
• Provide efficient and responsive training courses to internal and external participants.
• Provide information, up-to-date publicity materials and advice on the range of training provided from the Team to internal and external customers.
• Carry out liaison and marketing to widen course participation.
• Make external bodies aware of the training course availability.
• Keep up-to-date and apply good working knowledge of the care sector.
• Participate in new initiatives and future changes in service delivery improvements.
• Actively pursue own personal development and take full advantage of training provided.
• To actively support and mentor new starters for each individual branch.

Person Specification:

• Able to demonstrate a track record of delivering training sessions to groups or individuals.
• Excellent knowledge of training and development needs within the healthcare sector.
• Good knowledge of National Minimum Standards and legislation applying to the Care Sector in general.
• Car driver able to travel to branches and training centres within a designated area (travel to cover other areas within the Group may be required on occasions).
• Good organisational and inter-personal skills.
• Current Manual Handling Trainer certificate.
• IT skills to include Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
• Good design skills and an eye for detail.
• Team player with sense of humour.
• Flexible approach to work – occasionally some sessions may be required out of normal office hours.
